Art Therapy is an integrative mental health and human services profession that enriches the lives of individuals, families, and communities through active art-making, creative process, applied psychological theory, and human experience within a psychotherapeutic relationship.
EMDR
EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. It is a form of therapy that helps people heal from trauma or other distressing life experiences. EMDR therapy has been extensively researched and has demonstrated effectiveness for trauma.
Grief and Loss
Trauma Focused Therapy
Cultural Adjustment
Coping with the loss of someone or something you love is one of life’s biggest challenges. Complicated grief psychotherapy may be used to treat persistent complicated grief disorder. This therapy is similar to techniques used to treat other mental health issues like anxiety and depression. However, it is specifically for complicated grief. Complicated grief psychotherapy may be done in a group format or individually.
Trauma-Focused Therapy is a specific approach to therapy that recognizes and emphasizes understanding how the traumatic experience impacts a child’s mental, behavioral, emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being. The purpose of trauma-focused therapy is to offer skills and strategies to assist your child in better understanding, coping with, processing emotions and memories tied to traumatic experiences, with the end goal of enabling your child to create a healthier and more adaptive meaning of the experience that took place in his/her life.
Culture plays an extremely relevant role in psychotherapy. With my background of being Japanese, I understand the complexities of culture influences how we understand health and healing. I welcome every individuall from every color, gender, orientation & identity.
